www wednesday

WWW Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Taking On A World Of Words to record and share our weekly reading.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

the doll houseYou never know who’s watching…

Corinne’s life might look perfect on the outside, but after three failed IVF attempts it’s her last chance to have a baby. And when she finds a tiny part of a doll house outside her flat, it feels as if it’s a sign.

But as more pieces begin to turn up, Corinne realises that they are far too familiar. Someone knows about the miniature rocking horse and the little doll with its red velvet dress. Someone has been inside her house…

How does the stranger know so much about her life? How long have they been watching? And what are they waiting for…?

Just about to start this, I’ve heard great things and am looking forward to it!

Recently Finished

Just three since last Wednesday … I’ve had a couple of busy days getting the daughter’s back to school shopping done and going into work to get ready for new term next week and didn’t get much reading done over the last couple of days. I LOVED Little Sister and Copycat was really gripping, but unfortunately I wasn’t blown away by The Pool House.

Amy’s husband Hugh isn’t really leaving her.the break

At least, that’s what he promises. He is just taking a break – from their marriage, their children and, most of all, from their life together. For six-months Hugh will lose himself in south-east Asia, and there is nothing Amy can say or do about it.

Yes, it’s a mid-life crisis, but let’s be clear: a break isn’t a break up – yet . . .

It’s been a long time since Amy held a briefcase in one hand and a baby in the other. She never believed she’d have to go it alone again. She just has to hold the family together until Hugh comes back.

But a lot can happen in six-months. When Hugh returns, if he returns, will he be the same man she married? And will Amy be the same woman?

Because falling in love is easy. The hard part – the painful, joyous, maddening, beautiful part – is staying in love.

A new Marian Keyes! I’m looking forward to this!

So, how’s your reading week been?

Weekly Wrap Up – 20th August 2017

cosybooks 2

I can hardly believe it but here I am, four weeks of my six weeks off work over. It seems an awfully long time ago since I waved my daughter off for a week at Guides camp right at the beginning, yet on the other hand that list of must do jobs around the house remains untouched and I’m now left with just two weeks to do it all! How did that happen?

Contradictions seem to be the theme of the week, as I’ve spent a lot of it shivering, moaning and avoiding bucketfuls of rain. Is anyone else thinking that this is the worst summer they can remember? Yet there were a few sunny interludes and I managed to take my reading outside now and then. We even made it to an outdoor pool on Thursday!

I’ve managed to get a lot of reading done this week …currently on number six which I’ll hopefully finish today. I’ve harped on about this one a bit- but my favourite was The Vanishing Of Audrey Wilde by Eve Chase. I just adored it.

I actually thought I’d done very well on the new books front this week – but then when I looked back there’s more than I remembered! (Although Another Woman’s Husband was a pre-order and I’d actually forgotten about a netgalley request until it was approved) – Ooops! Here’s the book which found their way to my TBR list this week…

Thank you to Abby @ Anne Bonny Book Reviews for District Nurse On Call which I won in a competition.

So how was your week?
