This week can only be defined by one thing – SNOW! I’m sure we’re all fed up of it now here in the UK, ours has now turned from a pretty thick blanket to half melted brown slush and lumps of ice. Eurgh. Hope everyone all managed to stay warm and fit some extra cosy reading in!
I read three books this week – all thrillers! It would’ve only been two but thanks to the weather, my day shift was cancelled today and I’ve spent the morning reading Clare Mackintosh’s new book. I really thought I had this one sussed, but she still managed to shock me with an incredibly twisty ending! My review will be up on the blog during the week and you can buy it yourselves from Thursday 8th March 2018!
I also had a good old book sort out on Thursday and managed to completely update my Goodreads shelves, organise my diary and rearrange the shelves into months. March and April are extremely busy with some amazing books to read – here’s my March to be read pile (which doesn’t even include ebooks!)
This week I have FOUR blog tours stopping by!
And despite the #BeastFromTheEast bringing lots of services to a stand still, my good old postie still managed to get through the snow with some amazing #Bookpost – here’s some of the new books that made their way to my shelves this week
This week has been pretty uneventful to be honest and I haven’t done an awful lot. I’m at the point in the summer holidays where I’m fed up of all the spare time and finding it hard to motivate myself – I know, give it a week when I go back and I’ll be counting down to the next holiday. But generally, the most exciting thing that happened this week was the gas safety check on the boiler.
I have been productive blog wise though and for the first time ever I’m ahead with scheduling! Long may it last! September is shaping up to be a very busy month on the blog and I want to be as organised as I can be, leaving me with plenty of time for reading when I’m back at work Monday-Friday. I’ve managed to get through another five books too. I’d set myself a goal to try and read twenty books over the six weeks holidays and I’ve already smashed that with 21 books read and still a week to go! Favourite book this week without a doubt is Little Sister by Isabel Ashdown. I’ve had it on the shelf for ages and finally picked it up on Saturday afternoon. I would’ve read it in one sitting my was rudely interrupted by my mother calling in for a cuppa at a very critical moment! As soon as she’d gone, I was straight back to it. I couldn’t put it down! Review coming next week.
It’s been an epic few days new books wise and I’m fairly sure my postie is fed up of me. Here’s what’s new to my shelves this week.
I’ve got a feeling September is going to be an excellent reading month!
So how was your week?
I can hardly believe it but here I am, four weeks of my six weeks off work over. It seems an awfully long time ago since I waved my daughter off for a week at Guides camp right at the beginning, yet on the other hand that list of must do jobs around the house remains untouched and I’m now left with just two weeks to do it all! How did that happen?
Contradictions seem to be the theme of the week, as I’ve spent a lot of it shivering, moaning and avoiding bucketfuls of rain. Is anyone else thinking that this is the worst summer they can remember? Yet there were a few sunny interludes and I managed to take my reading outside now and then. We even made it to an outdoor pool on Thursday!
I’ve managed to get a lot of reading done this week …currently on number six which I’ll hopefully finish today. I’ve harped on about this one a bit- but my favourite was The Vanishing Of Audrey Wilde by Eve Chase. I just adored it.
I actually thought I’d done very well on the new books front this week – but then when I looked back there’s more than I remembered! (Although Another Woman’s Husband was a pre-order and I’d actually forgotten about a netgalley request until it was approved) – Ooops! Here’s the book which found their way to my TBR list this week…
Thank you to Abby @ Anne Bonny Book Reviews for District Nurse On Call which I won in a competition.
